Tails & Tales and Treats

Friday, June 4th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

It’s the last day of school! Join us as we get ready for Summer Reading.  This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales”, and we will have some cute furry friends from the Pickens County Animal Shelter to keep us company while we enjoy some fun and frosty treats! Simpell’s Ice Nation will be here with their chill treats you can enjoy outside with us. Patrons of all ages can pick up their Summer Reading Postcards before Summer Reading begins on June 7th! How cool is that? So come “paws” with us from 11-1 on June 4th and let’s get Summer Reading 2021 started off right!

Upcountry History Museum

Friday, June 11th at 11:00 AM

Beginning June 5th, the Upcountry History Museum is showcasing a “Once Upon a Time” exhibition which includes the tale of “Anansi and the Talking Melon.”  We’ll give you a sneak peek of the exhibit. The library offers passes for free admission for as many as 2 adults and up to 4 children to the Upcountry History Museum. Click here for more details.

This Facebook post will include a video to teach you how to make rolled beeswax candles. The craft kit will include sheets of beeswax and a wick. Stop by any library branch and pick up your kit starting the day of the program. They will be available first-come, first-serve while supplies last.

We will be going on location to Glassy Mountain Heritage Preserve with Greg Lucas from S.C. Department of Natural Resources to learn more about bird watching in the Upstate.
